It looks like SquashZAG‘s domain name has expired! I wonder if this was just a clerical error, or if Shawn has decided to throw in the towel. Anyone know?

TOC Live Blog: Semi Finals
I really enjoyed what might have been the first ever Squash Live Blog, so I have decided to do it again for the Semi’s. One of the commenters from last night, @studentrob is going to be attending the event and may be adding a bit of court side color!
6:30 PM EST [1] Karim Darwish (EGY) v. [6] James Willstrop(ENG)
7:30 PM EST [4] Nick Matthew (ENG) v. [5] Ramy Ashour (EGY)
I am really looking forward to tonights match between Ashour and Gaultier so I thought I would try something new. Tonight at 8:00 pm EST I am going to be live blogging the match. I have no idea how it will turn out, but I know it will be more fun if I you show up and comment. So if you are already planning on logging on to PSA Squash TV tonight, stop by boaster.us as well.
Tournament of Champions Coverage
I had grand plans of attending the Tournament of Champions this year. I even got as far as procuring the necessary media credentials, from the fine folks at Event Engine Sports, to do some photography during the Friday evening session. But unfortunately my brittle plans fell through at the last minute.
So I turn your attention to a blog that is going to capture the action live. The aptly named SquashTournamentOfChampions blog. Here’s hoping they can give us a fresh look at tournament coverage!
I will be posting a few updates on twitter throughout the tournament (as well as here), feel free to follow me if you have an account!

Every time I click on “BUY NOW” I am punted back to the new registration screen. I have tried two different accounts and three different browsers (Firefox, Safari and Chrome). While I am far from infallible, I usually find a way to give websites my money. Not this time. Has anyone been able to complete a purchase?
UPDATE: For some reason comments were closed on this post. I have opened them back up …

Who Needs A Wii
By now we all know the Wii is getting a Squash game via the new title Racquet Sports, but what if you are Wii-less like myself? Jahangir Khan’s World Championship Squash to the rescue:
Perhaps the world’s only squash game ever made, Krisalis’ Jahangir Khan’s World Championship Squash is a game starring famous Pakistani world champion of the same name that is fortunately good enough to satisfy all fans of this underrated sport. Up to two players can compete in hotseat mode, or try their luck against the computer players in the 32-player, 8-man leagues that can take quite a while to complete. The game sports many game features that will please fans of sport simulations, such as player statistics and skill levels that can be improved. The action itself is presented on a 3D isometric squash court, with very smooth animation of the players. You can also change between old and new squash rules, difficulty levels, and even the type of balls used in tournaments. While the controls are somewhat awkward (it’s difficult to change the speed of the ball, for instance), they are playable enough to allow fast and furious action on the court. Two thumbs up!
Unfortunately my computers were made in the last twenty-five years, so I wasn’t able to try the game myself. As usual, Youtube to the rescue:
Looks like there is no “Let??!!!” button …
Racketlon 2009 Championship
Since my last post I have learned a bit more about this odd competition called Racketlon:
Racketlon is the sport in which you challenge your opponent in each of the four racket sports table tennis, squash, badminton and tennis. A racketlon match contains four sets, one in each sport. Each set is played to 21 points, much like in table tennis, but the total winner of a racketlon match is not the one that wins most sets but the one that scores the most points in total. The winner is the best all round racket player.
I incorrectly stated that Racketlon was a few years old. This amalgam of sports has been played for almost 30 years now. The Fins and Swedes sort of co-invented it, it seems. It appears I am a little late to the party …
My hopes for photographic evidence have been bested by, of course, Youtube videos. While not quite Balls of Fury, I was not let down. Below are some clips of Christoph Krenn defeating Mikko Kärkkäinen, claiming the 2009 Racketlon Championship and being named the “best racket player in the world”. Enjoy!
